Why Patients Say Vedder Dental Clinic Is The Best Dentist In Chilliwack?

Here’s why our Chilliwack dentist patients prefer us. We’re not making this up, just sharing what they tell us 🙂

  • We’re small & not a big conglomerate.

In a day and age where conglomerates are buying up clinics and patients are treated like a number, we stay small, independent and treat our patients like family.

  • Familiar faces.

Some of our team have been with us for over 30 years – that’s rare these days, in any industry, let alone ours. As a result, our patients love seeing familiar faces in our clinic, and we love seeing theirs too.

  • We treat you like family.

We treat our patients like family, just like how we’d like to be treated. Simple things like remembering their names, keeping it real, not stuffy or corporate.

  • Fair assessments, not over-sold.

Some of our patients have tried the new and shiny conglomerate dental clinics, only to return to us because we provide fair assessments and we do not oversell what’s needed for your treatments.

Invisalign

What is Invisalign

Invisalign clear aligners use the most advanced technology to give you your best smile yet. Using a series of aligners made with advances, such as proprietary SmartTrack material, Invisalign treatment can straighten your teeth with 75% more predictability. Plus, your smile is shaped more comfortably than with braces.

Why do Invisalign aligners work so well for Chilliwack patients?

This system is a popular orthodontic treatment for people who want to straighten their teeth but can’t make it into the office every two weeks. You wear them discreetly and take them out whenever you eat or brush your teeth.

It is one of the leading methods for improving patients’ smiles. It’s clear, removable, and comfortable to wear, which makes it perfect for adults who want a straighter smile without the need for traditional metal braces.

Tongue-Tie and Lip Tie Pediatrics

A Modern Dentistry Approach To Tongue Tie, Lip Tie, and Breastfeeding Medicine for Babies, Toddlers, and Children

Dentistry for children has evolved so much since the early 20th century. Now, instead of just focusing on teeth and oral health, dentists are taking a more holistic approach to dental care for children. This includes tongue tie and lip tie frenectomy surgery as well as breastfeeding medicine for babies with colic or reflux.

What is a tongue-tie or lip tie?

Tongue-tie or lip tie happens when there is a remnant of tissue that affects the normal function of the tongue. This could impact things such as breastfeeding and speech.

The tissue underneath the tongue or lip may restrict movement. When it is under the tongue, it is called a tongue-tie (the medical term is ankyloglossia). When it affects the upper lip, it’s called a lip tie.

Ties are often graded based on how they look; however, the appearance isn’t what dictates the severity of symptoms or whether treatment is needed. Rather, it must be determined that a tongue or lip tie is impacting function before deciding if surgical intervention is warranted.

What is a frenectomy?

A frenectomy is a procedure used to correct this congenital condition in which the lingual (tongue) or labial (upper lip) frenulum is too tight, causing restrictions in movement that can contribute to difficulty with breastfeeding, and in some instances, other health problems like mouth breathing, dental decay, altered craniofacial development, and dental spacing, sleep and speech difficulties, and/or digestive issues.

A good family dentist specializes in a wide range of dental services, from the usual dental cleanings and fillings to more specialized procedures such as sealants, tooth replacement, crowns and bridges, and more.

What does family dentistry mean?

Family dentistry addresses oral health at every stage of life. Children have very different dental needs than adults, and qualified family dentists deliver comprehensive oral care from baby teeth to permanent teeth. Dental Extractions

Extractions may be done by a general dentist or an oral surgeon.  Many teens and adults get their wisdom teeth removed, however, there can be several other reasons why a tooth may require being extracted.

If a tooth has extensive decay, abscess, or fractured, it may not saveable and will require to be removed.

Periodontal disease (referred to as gum disease) can also play a major factor if a tooth needs to be extracted.

If the gums are not healthy “pockets” can develop leaving a space between the tooth and gum. When this happens food can get caught in these areas and over time bone loss can happen as well as mobility with the tooth itself. With severe bone loss and mobility, there may be no option available to save the tooth which would result in an extraction.

We have put in new infection control protocols above and beyond the policies we already had in place. We have created a new patient flow to adhere to physical distancing and have the necessary protective gear to keep our staff and patients safe.
We have set up new protocols for your next appointment, please review:

Staff Monitoring

Our staff will be monitored daily for fever (temperature checks taken daily), cough sore throat or flu-like symptoms. If they experience any of these symptoms they will stay home and quarantine for the mandatory 14 days in the event they are ill.

Patient Screening

Before your appointment, we will call you to go over a pre-screening form, for the purpose of determining if you have any COVID-19 symptoms before arriving at our office. This will be gone over again on the day of the appointment as well as taking your temperature.

Patient Station

At the front entrance, you will be greeted, and your temperature will be taken. You will be given hand sanitizer and a face mask if you do not already have one. After each appointment, we will clean, disinfect, and sterilize the operatory, instruments and all surfaces that have been touched.

Limited Interaction

At our reception desk, we have installed plexiglass barriers and placed ‘X’ markers on the ground away from the desk to encourage physical distancing. We will ask you to wait in your vehicles or outside the office until we text or call you in for your appointment to limit the people waiting in the reception area.

Physical Distancing

In our waiting room, we have a minimum number of chairs for seating and have ensured they are placed 2 metres (6 feet) apart. Our staff members will wipe down all surfaces with an approved surface cleaner as well. We ask that you don’t bring extra family members to your appointment.

We care about you

We have posted signs in specific areas to help guide you through the new process. If you are unsure of the new protocols, feel free to ask our staff about the proper procedures.

We will continue to update the changing protocols that are set out.

Our hours of operation may have changed during this time so please check by calling our office for updated information.

Our goal is to provide you with the best dental care in a safe and comfortable environment. We look forward to seeing you again.
